How to set up the VDI for Bot operation

Check the VDI vendor and OS version.

1) VDI Vendor: VMWare or Citrix

2) Windows version: Win10 or Win7(Windows > Computer > Preference)

How to set the VDI auto-login (operating Bot without running the VDI client)

1) Run the VDI client and Bot.

2) Open Registry Editor within the VDI. (Win + R > regedit)

3) Move to the following folder.
- Path: COMPUTER\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

4) Add the following four variables to the folder: (Right-click, then click New > String Value.)

- AutoAdminLogon: 1
- DefaultDomainName: ask to VDI operation team (ex. CORP, SMARTDESK, etc)
- DefaultUserName: VDI user ID
- DefaultPassword: VDI user password

5) Reboot the VDI.

- VDI Client will be closed automatically.

How to view the “Default Domain Name” within VDI

1) Open the command window within the VDI. (Win + R > cmd)

2) Enter “Ipconfig /all” and press Enter.

3) You can view the “Default Domain Name” on the “Primary DNS suffix” and “DNS suffix” lists.

ex) smartdesk.sds.cloud.com

How do I keep Designer running while the VDI execution screen is closed?

1) Citrix
- Citrix server must have its own graphics card that supports the following resolutions: (2560x1600, 1920x1200, 1680x1050, 1600x1200, 1440x900, 1400x1050, 1280x1024, 1280x960, 1280x800, 1152x864, 1024x768, 800x600)
- In VDA version 7.15.2000, the resolution must be maintained for the viewer that was last accessed.
- Contact the VDI operation team to use a higher resolution.

2) VMWare

- You must maintain the screen resolution of your PC when using VMWare.
- The resolution will be maintained when the user closes the VDI viewer while using the 1920x1080 screen resolution.

Checklist before starting VDI operation

1) Check whether the BOT monitoring screen is blank on Admin Portal - Occurrence case

In the registry editor, the “AutoAdminLogon” string was not set as “1.”
For more information, see VDI installation.

2) Check whether pop-up messages related to Windows updates are enabled on VDI.

- Pop-up messages related to Windows update cause process execution errors.

3) Check the VDI screen resolution.

- Set the screen view scale to 100%.

VDI Routine Inspection Guide

1) Check the VDI disk for the remaining space.

2) Check whether the icon is displayed on the taskbar.

- Knox portal can be closed through the tray icon in the taskbar. When closing Knox Portal using a script, execute the shutdown command while the tray icon is displayed. The shutdown process does not work properly while the tray icon is hidden.
- How to display the tray icon in the notification area
1) Right-click an empty space on the VDI taskbar and click Taskbar settings.
2) In the notification area of the settings screen, click Icons to display on the taskbar.
3) In the setting screen for selecting icons to display, set the “Always display all icons on the taskbar” option to On.

3) Change the password for the Knox account.

- The Knox Portal password cannot be automatically changed. Manually changed the password every month.

Inspection Guide for Other VDI Operations

1) Turn off the Knox Portal and Knox Messenger notifications.

- Errors may occur when displaying notification messages on the screen during process execution if the notification features are enabled 
- Turn off the Knox Portal notification
: In the settings, turn off notifications for received mail and approvals.
- Turn off the Knox Messenger notification
: In the settings, uncheck the “Activate Notification” option.

2) During an operation by VDI (Bot)

- When accessing VDI through a client, do not close the connection with the Disconnect button.
- Restart VDI to disconnect the client and ensure that the “Bot Monitoring” screen is displayed on Admin Portal.
